Stock Room / Shipping amp; Receiving Team Member – Utility
Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Department: Stock Room / Shipping amp; Receiving / Logistics
Primary Function
The Stock Room / Shipping amp; Receiving Team Member is responsible for supporting the safe, accurate, and timely movement of parts, materials, assemblies, and finished equipment throughout Grote.
This is a utility role. The person in this position must be capable and willing to support all stock room, shipping, receiving, material handling, production support, and crating activities as needed. Daily assignments may change based on shipment urgency, production needs, customer orders, inbound freight, staffing, and workload.
This role requires a dependable team member with strong attention to detail, basic mechanical ability, comfort operating forklifts and material handling equipment, and a willingness to jump in wherever the business needs support.
Essential Duties amp; Responsibilities
• Pick, pull, stage, and deliver parts and materials from the stock room to support customer orders, production jobs, service parts, and internal needs.
• Receive inbound freight, verify paperwork, inspect shipments for visible damage, confirm quantities, tag material, and route items to inventory, QC, production, or staging areas as required.
• Support outbound shipments by verifying customer information, part numbers, quantities, packaging requirements, documentation, and shipment readiness.
• Follow packing instructions, prepare shipping paperwork, complete bills of lading, and support accurate ship confirmation in the ERP system.
• Build crates and support packaging of machine parts, assemblies, and finished equipment for safe shipment.
• Use basic hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and shop equipment as needed for crating, blocking, bracing, packaging, and general stock room support.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to load and unload trucks, move pallets, stage shipments, and support production flow.
• Assist with freight carrier coordination, truck loading/unloading, dock organization, and shipment staging.
• Support water spider / production support activities, including delivering material to work areas, removing completed material, returning empty bins/pallets, and helping maintain organized flow lanes.
• Maintain accurate inventory movement by following ERP transaction requirements, labeling material properly, and escalating discrepancies quickly.
• Support QC routing by moving incoming or returned material to the correct hold, inspection, quarantine, or release areas.
• Help maintain stock room organization, including put-away, shelf/bin cleanliness, labeling, inventory accuracy, and general housekeeping.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including dock areas, shelving, staging lanes, packing areas, shipping supplies, and workstations.
• Communicate clearly with Stock Room, Shipping, Receiving, Customer Service, Purchasing, Production, QC, and Operations when priorities, shortages, shipment issues, or material concerns arise.
• Manage competing priorities and adjust throughout the day based on customer shipment needs, production support, inbound freight, and urgent business requirements.
• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Education amp; Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous stock room, warehouse, shipping, receiving, manufacturing, logistics, or inventory experience preferred.
• Forklift experience required or ability to become qualified quickly.
• Experience loading and unloading trucks preferred.
• Basic mechanical ability required, including comfort using hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, and basic shop equipment.
• Crating, packaging, woodworking, machine shipment, or equipment handling experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, packing instructions, part numbers, bills of lading, packing slips, and customer shipment requirements.
• Basic computer skills required.
• ERP transaction experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Strong verbal communication, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to reach, bend, kneel, lift, push, pull, and move materials throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Ability to work around forklifts, trucks, pallets, crates, packaging materials, and manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to safely handle sharp, awkward, heavy, or oversized materials using proper equipment and assistance.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing, stock room, shipping dock, and warehouse environment.
