Details

• Typical work hours: 2:15 pm to 6:15 pm, Monday-Friday when South-Western City Schools are in session. This means when school it out, you have the day off - includes snow days, holiday breaks, teacher in-service, and more!
• Program locations: Buckeye Woods, J.C. Sommer, Highland Park, Monterey, and Richard Avenue Elementary Schools.
• Maximum hours scheduled per week: 28 (but typically 20-22 hours)
• Starting salary: $20.00 per hour
• What does the P.A.R.K. Leader actually do? Plan and lead students in grades K-4 in activities including daily crafts or games, community building, outdoor recess, indoor free time, open gym, and other programming for children.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age and has a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working with children.
• Must maintain reliable and punctual attendance.
• Has proven ability in oral and written communications.
• Has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, civic leaders and the public in general.
• Has the ability to follow direction, provide necessary services and enforce stated rules and regulations.
• The ability to plan and provide appropriate school age activities and have a basic understanding of child development and group management.

Essential Functions of the Position
The P.A.R.K. Leader will have the following duties under the appropriate immediate supervisor:

• Support high-quality programs by preparing, supervising, and actively engaging in program activities.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and positive environment by engaging with participants and families.
• Provide excellent customer experience to respond to basic questions and concerns.
• Adapt to changing program needs, group dynamics, or unexpected challenges.
• Monitor participant behavior, facility use, and program areas and respond appropriately.
• Communicate early and clearly with supervisors, coworkers, and program participants.
• Maintain clean, organized program spaces, supplies and equipment.
• Report incidents, injuries, concerns, or unsafe conditions immediately.
• Maintain accurate attendance, documentation, and required reports.
• Uphold professionalism, reliability, and ethical behavior in all interactions.
• Use required technology systems (timekeeping, scheduling, communication tools) accurately and consistently.
• Follow all City, department, facility, and safety procedures.
• Support a unified department culture by collaborating across programs and sections and exhibiting department values.

• Obey and promptly execute all orders of the Administrative Assistant.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions and Equipment Operated
The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); ascends and/or descends stairs; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects 30 lbs. or less.
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered light work.
