Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Join a dedicated team of commercial construction professionals working on unique projects that enhance the communities we serve.ย  Preconstruction personnel are responsible for the activities that occur during the construction planning process. Preconstruction Engineer/Estimator will report to the Vice President of Preconstruction and work closely with the assigned Operations lead point persons during the preconstruction process.ย  The construction planning process can begin as early as strategy and interview response to a Request For Proposal and reach typical completion with establishing a project Guaranteed Maximum Price and/or bidding completed documents prepared by the Design Team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preconstruction:

  • Actively participate in winning work
  • Perform detailed quantity surveys both manually and electronically
  • Possess knowledge of and ability to develop detailed pricing
  • Develop detailed scopes of work by trade
  • Perform Value Engineering/Value Analysis
  • Assist with developing comparable building analysis
  • Assist with performing building systems analysis and constructability reviews
  • Assist with developing conceptual estimates from limited information

Leadership

  • Promote an environment that encouragesย transparency, open communication and collaboration in a team environment with both internal and external clients.
  • Provide leadership through building relationships, motivating others, providing clear direction, and cooperative teamwork
  • Communicate effectively; both written and verbal
  • Provide training and serve as a mentor to less experienced personnel
  • Opportunity to become a client champion and/or market champion

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering or related technical area preferred
  • 2+ years industry experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following markets is preferred: commercial office, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, industrial, interiors, K-12, manufacturing or retail
