Job description

Position Summary
The Project Engineer works closely with more experienced engineers and can complete routine projects
with minimal supervision. The Project Engineer I, in role of project leader, may begin to handle some project
management tasks but will primarily work on technical aspects within the established time frame and budget.
Essential Functions
∙ Serves as a project engineer with some autonomy for project related tasks and as a designated client contact.
∙ Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of smaller, less complex projects, within a specified budget.
∙ Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals.
∙ With the assistance of the Project Manager (PM), develop fee proposals.
∙ Prepare engineer studies and schematic designs.
∙ Prepare design calculations, drawing, specifications, and structural reports.
∙ Work closely with CAD Technicians to complete tasks.
∙ Understand project and state stamping requirements.
∙ Assist in the education and development of younger engineers and act as a resource for design questions.
∙ Actively pursue opportunities in learning and increasing technical knowledge.
∙ Responsible for maintaining Professional Development Hours (PDH) for PE registrations.
∙ Assist in marketing activities as directed.
∙ Attend and participate in PJF and client meetings.
∙ Maintain a positive and professional work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along
with clients, co-workers, and management.
∙ Maintain a neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to project information required by other team members.
∙ Adhere to all company policies and procedures as stated in the current PJF Employee Policy and Procedure Manual.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
∙ Ability to manage various projects.
∙ Ability to communicate effective, both verbally and in writing.
∙ Understanding and knowledge of applicable codes.
∙ Proficient in Microsoft Office and company owned software.
Minimum Qualifications
∙ Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school is required.
∙ PE License
Work Environment and Physical Demands

∙ Must be able to life and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.
∙ May be required to travel to visit a client’s office or construction job site.
∙ Due to the collaborative nature of this position and accessibility for in-house and on-site client meetings, it is important that
the work be performed in the office and during normal business hours.
∙ This job operates in a professional office environment.
