Job description

Description
The Field Service Technician is responsible for installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and customer training of advanced analytical instrumentation at customer sites. This role requires strong electronics knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to operate independently while delivering exceptional customer service.
This is a highly technical, travel-intensive role supporting complex systems involving high voltage, RF/DC power supplies, vacuum systems, and precision measurement technology.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of analytical instrumentation at customer sites
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues
  • Support high-voltage power supplies (RF, DC) and vacuum systems
  • Conduct system testing to ensure operational quality and performance
  • Provide customer training on equipment operation and maintenance
  • Deliver remote technical support as needed
  • Prepare accurate service reports and expense documentation
  • Represent the company professionally to maintain high customer satisfaction

Must-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • Associate's Degree in a technical field or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Strong electronics troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with high voltage systems (RF/DC power supplies)
  • Understanding of vacuum systems
  • Ability to travel 80%+ (Monday-Friday overnight travel)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to fly regularly
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Nice-to-Have Skills, Experience, and Education:
  • 5-7+ years of field service experience
  • Experience servicing analytical instrumentation (OES, ICP, XRF)
  • Background in physics or chemistry
  • Military technical experience (electronics, avionics, radar, calibration, etc.)
  • Experience working in laboratory or industrial manufacturing environments
  • PLC troubleshooting exposure
