Our ideal Welder: Delivers on-time fabrications that satisfy requirements of the customer and uphold Sterling’s standards of quality, professionalism and safety Communicates clear status updates & requests for supporting materials and documentation to management, production support and clients Interfaces with multiple departments and subcontractors as it relates to project execution. Forms a strong relationship with customers & co-workers built on mutual respect and accountability of actions Meets customer expectations while maintaining profitability of project We are seeking a welder to fit and weld fabrications like tanks, platforms, skidded piping systems, conveyors and sheet metal weldments. RESPONSIBILITIES The job responsibilities of this Shop Foreman position include, but are not limited to: Fabrication – Work with team members in the Field or Shop to: Prepare, fit and weld in accordance with drawings and direction of management. Inspection welds performed for continuity, size, appearance and penetration. Cleaning/polishing of welds as dictated by project specifications. Assist in the rigging/setting of equipment and fabrications. Validation – Review completed designs and fabrications for accuracy of fit, finish and function with Project Manager and/or Quality Manager; participate in project team meetings. Organization – Adhere to Sterling procedures for management of expense & time reporting, and maintain orderly work area/job box, material & tool staging, and drawings to aid collaboration with co-workers. Expectations – Operate within company and customer expectations for quality, standards adherence and safety considerations for all designs. Performance – Accountable to customer and Management for all aspects of project performance, satisfying expectations, timeliness and quality of deliverables. Feedback – Meet with Project Team to regularly to review challenges, solutions, measurables and successes. Improvements – Make recommendations for improvements in efficiency, processes, equipment and techniques and provide justification to management to support such ideas. Accept constructive criticism and coaching from manger and team members to improve personal skills. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Required High School Diploma or equivalent Graduation from a welding school OR 4+ years relevant experience in welding/fitting role in related industry Ability to work weekend and holidays as needed. Driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation Hand tools and other trade tools Preferred TIG/GTAW position welding, Stainless Steel preferred. MIG/GMAW position welding, Stainless Steel preferred. Certified welder (6G, TIG/GTAW) Back gas purge welding of pipe and tubing. Fitting & Basic math/layout skills. Mechanical ability. Blue print reading. Willingness to accept ownership of complex tasks and see them through to successful completion. Must be able to work as a positive team member, with professional attitude and respect. Must be able to work in a multi-task environment with unexpected interruptions and schedule changes. Creative problem solving ability. Self-starter with limited supervision required. Desired Orbital welding. Polishing of metal to 3A sanitary finish. Rigging skills. Plasma Cutting. Equipment operation (forklifts, overhead cranes, etc.) Safety & CPR Certification.
