Job description

Job Title: Project Manager – Commercial Construction

Location: Columbus, OH 43223
Job Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time
Relocation: Not Available
Start Date: ASAP

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee commercial construction projects from the preconstruction phase through final closeout. The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing projects ranging from $1M to $20M, with proven experience in budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, client relations, and overall project execution.


This position will work closely with field and office teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and execution plans.
  • Coordinate closely with Superintendents, Project Engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Monitor project costs, timelines, quality, and overall performance.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop effective solutions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and trade partners.
  • Conduct project meetings and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
  • Support field teams in resolving construction and scheduling challenges.
  • Ensure projects meet contractual requirements, quality standards, and established deadlines.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to Project Engineers and junior team members.
  • Represent the organization professionally throughout the project lifecycle.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience.
  • Proven experience managing construction projects valued between $1M and $20M.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor management.
  • Experience managing projects from preconstruction through final completion.
  • Strong understanding of RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Central and Southern Ohio.
  • Stable employment history and a demonstrated record of successfully managing construction projects.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial, corporate, institutional, healthcare, education, or similar construction projects.
  • Experience working directly with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and project financial management.
  • Experience mentoring Project Engineers or other junior construction professionals.

  • Promote and maintain a strong jobsite safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Work closely with Superintendents and field teams to address safety concerns.
  • Encourage safe, efficient, and professional project execution.
