Job description

  • Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability
  • Build rapport with donors to ensure overall customer satisfaction
  • Ensure donor and staff confidentiality
  • Inform donors about potential hazards
  • Provide donor education regarding general health
  • Counsel donors regarding unacceptable test results
  • Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events
  • Evaluate histories of illness or medications to ensure continued donor suitability
  • Assist in employee training
  • Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program
Requirements
  • Educated and currently certified/licensed in the state of employment and according to state requirements as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each
  • Ability to bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day
  • Frequent hand, finger, wrist, and foot movement
  • Ability to make precise coordinated movements to grasp and manipulate objects
  • Ability to squat, crouch, sit on one's heels, walk, bend, and twist at the waist
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs., with a maximum lift of 50 lbs.
  • Hearing acuity essential
  • Correctable near and far vision; specified visual acuity requirements
  • Ability to communicate, listen to, and understand information presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions
  • Ability to perform a wide range of tasks under variable demands and changing conditions
  • Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups
  • Ability to work in a plasma center with exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold below 32 degrees F
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment, including protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-gear
