We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Permitting Specialist to join our dynamic Building Systems team. In this key role, you'll be an essential part of our full-service project delivery-helping bring spaces to life by navigating the critical path of permitting. You'll work closely with our talented in-house team of architects, engineers, technicians, and administrative professionals, collaborating on a wide range of exciting projects. This role is perfect for someone who is self-motivated, highly organized, and confident in communicating with clients and team members alike.

As a Permitting Specialist, you'll manage the coordination of multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timelines are met and clients have clear expectations about how permitting may impact their opening dates.

We understand the importance of work-life balance and offer paid time off, flexible schedules, and company-paid holidays to support your needs. Our commitment to balance also includes a hybrid work option, allowing you to split your time between the office and home. Additionally, select positions may offer the opportunity for full-time remote work, depending on the role and its requirements.

What You'll Do:

The focus of the position is to set appropriate client expectations for the permitting process and its impacts on opening dates. This will include coordination and outreach to all applicable permitting jurisdictions to research the process and timelines.  The research is recorded and reported to our internal teams and clients.  After construction document submission, it is important to follow up and monitor the review progress to verify that the project is moving through as expected.
This includes but is not limited to State and local building permits, signage permits, State or local health permits, EPA, water service permits and erosion and sediment control permits.
Specific responsibilities include:

  • Technical understanding of building permitting processes.
  • Production related project tasks within the following software platforms: Excel, and other Microsoft Office platforms
  • Assisting project team leaders to align client & technical expectations for each project construction schedule.
  • Organizing, recording, tracking and monitoring the permitting data
What You'll Bring:

We are looking for someone who is a proactive problem solver, willing and able to communicate ideas and learn office production workflow in a collaborative, matrixed team environment.

  • Strong communication skills, good collaborator, creative thinker, highly organized
  • Technical Computer skills - Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel
  • Experience working in technical project teams
  • Experience researching planning and zoning approvals with municipalities
