Job description

1st Shift Steel Team Lead
Starting Wage 28.00 p/h plus shift differential and attendance premium.
Yamada North America is seeking a motivated Production Team Leader to oversee machining, processing, and assembly operations supporting major automotive manufacturers. This role is responsible for leading production associates, ensuring safety and quality standards are met, and driving daily production performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coach, and develop production associates to achieve safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Conduct shift meetings and ensure effective communication between shifts.
  • Monitor production output, cycle times, and inventory performance while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams as needed.
  • Train associates on equipment operation, quality requirements, safety procedures, and company standards.
  • Support continuous improvement activities utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles, PDCA, 5S, TPM, and root cause analysis.
  • Complete production reports, evaluations, investigations, and other required documentation.
  • Promote a positive work environment while addressing employee concerns and enforcing company policies.
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, PDCA, 5S, TPM, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Ability to motivate teams and thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required to support production needs.
