Role Description
Avcom SMT is seeking a full-time Electronics Assembler / PCBA Assembly Technician to support printed circuit board assembly, hand soldering, inspection, rework, cleaning, labeling, and related electronics manufacturing work at our Westerville, OH facility.
This role is responsible for assembling, inspecting, cleaning, modifying, and reworking printed circuit board assemblies using bills of materials, assembly drawings, work instructions, customer documentation, and company quality procedures. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with electronics assembly, soldering, PCB inspection, rework, wiring, or a strong production background with the ability to learn quickly.
This position requires attention to detail, good hand skills, careful material verification, and the ability to follow documentation accurately. Avcom supports a mix of quick-turn prototype work, low-volume builds, rework projects, and production manufacturing, so the right candidate should be comfortable working on varied assemblies and changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
· Assemble printed circuit board assemblies according to bills of materials, assembly drawings, work instructions, travelers, and customer requirements.
· Perform hand soldering of through-hole components, wires, connectors, and other electronic components as required.
· Perform post-wave solder inspection, touch-up soldering, and basic rework of printed circuit board assemblies.
· Remove, replace, modify, or repair components on assembled circuit boards as directed.
· Clean circuit boards and assemblies according to company procedures and customer requirements.
· Apply labels, serial numbers, process labels, booting, taping, masking, or other required assembly materials.
· Verify correct components, polarity, orientation, part numbers, labeling, and assembly details before and during production.
· Inspect solder joints, component placement, workmanship, cleanliness, labels, hardware, and overall assembly quality.
· Use hand tools and production tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, cutters, tweezers, lead trimmers, de-soldering equipment, magnification, microscopes, and related equipment.
· Perform basic functional testing or continuity checks on simple assemblies as needed.
· Communicate discrepancies in BOMs, drawings, work instructions, component markings, labels, or customer requirements to the Production Manager or designated lead.
· Support packing, shipping, inspection, cable assembly, SMT support, or other production areas as needed.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
· Work collaboratively with production, quality, engineering, and management personnel to meet customer deadlines and quality expectations.

· Comfortable working with small electronic components, printed circuit boards, hand tools, and production documentation.
· Ability to follow standardized procedures and escalate issues when information is unclear or discrepancies are found.
· Basic computer skills for accessing work instructions, production documentation, and job information.
· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, use hand tools, handle assemblies safely, and lift moderate weights as needed.
· Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
· Hand soldering experience.
· Through-hole assembly, post-wave inspection, touch-up, or rework experience.
· Experience with printed circuit board assemblies, electronic components, wire prep, cable assembly, or electromechanical assembly.
· Familiarity with IPC-A-610 workmanship standards or similar electronics assembly standards.
· Experience using microscopes, magnifiers, soldering irons, de-soldering equipment, tweezers, cutters, pliers, wire strippers, or basic test equipment.
