Job description

Are you naturally curious about how things work? Do you enjoy solving problems, paying attention to the small details, and helping people work safely?

Safex is Central Ohio's premier health, safety, and environmental (HSE) consulting firm. We're looking for a Safety Consultant who enjoys variety, thrives in a collaborative environment, and wants to make a meaningful impact by helping our clients create safer workplaces.

No two days are the same at Safex. You'll work with clients across a wide range of industries.

What You'll Do

Approximately 50% of your time will be dedicated to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) projects, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined and enjoys understanding how equipment and processes work.

Your responsibilities will include:

·        Developing machine-specific Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and conducting field assessments

·        Developing confined space entry procedures

·        Assessing machine guarding

·        Providing safety support for construction and manufacturing clients

·        Preparing written safety programs tailored to regulatory requirements and client operations

·        Developing and delivering toolbox talks, safety training, and webinars

·        Providing practical, easy-to-understand regulatory guidance to clients

·        Building strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to expand services

·        Participating in company marketing and business development initiatives

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

We're looking for someone who:

·        Has exceptional attention to detail

·        Is mechanically inclined and enjoys learning how equipment and systems operate

·        Is naturally curious and enjoys asking questions to understand processes

·        Thinks critically and solves problems independently

·        Communicates effectively with both frontline employees and management

·        Is organized and able to manage multiple projects and priorities

·        Enjoys working both in the field and in an office environment

·        Values teamwork while being comfortable working independently

Required Qualifications

·        Bachelor's or Associates degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field

·        Two or more years of safety experience (internships count)

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills

·        Critical thinking and analytical skills

·        Excellent organizational and time management abilities

·        Willingness to travel to client sites throughout the Central Ohio Area

Preferred Qualifications

·        Experience developing written lockout tagout or technical procedures

·        Mechanical aptitude or experience working around industrial equipment

·        Familiarity with OSHA regulations

·        Experience identifying workplace hazards and recommending corrective actions in construction and manufacturing environments

·        Experience interacting with employees and management to communicate safety expectations

Why Safex?

At Safex, we believe great consultants need more than technical knowledge—they need support, flexibility, and opportunities to grow.

·        Diverse work—you'll rarely have the same day twice

·        Autonomy to manage your schedule and projects

·        A culture built on trust and accountability—not micromanagement

·        Reasonable billing expectations that support work-life balance

·        Flexible work arrangements

·        Comprehensive training and professional development

·        Full reimbursement for earning your CSP, CIH, or CHMM certifications

·        Positive, collaborative team culture

·        Military-friendly workplace

·        A company committed to community involvement

Benefits

·        Salary: $70,000 - $85,000 based on experience

·        Year-end profit sharing

·        Medical insurance (Safex pays 70% of premiums)

·        Company-paid life and disability insurance

·        401(k) with immediate vesting

·        PTO plus the option to purchase an additional week

·        Nine paid company holidays

·        Tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 annually for employees and dependents

·        On-site gym featuring Rogue Fitness equipment

·        Paid volunteer/community service time

·        Employee discounts on travel and attractions

·        Company-wide financial transparency

·        Environmentally sustainable office practices and charitable environmental initiatives

·        Full-time and part-time career opportunities depending on your stage of life
