This is a great opportunity for a seasoned entry writer who wants meaningful ownership, exposure to a broad range of commodities and regulatory requirements, and the chance to expand their knowledge of Foreign Trade Zone operations.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Work Model: Hybrid; remote work available on Fridays

Eligible Locations: Reynoldsburg, OH; Charleston, SC; Saint Paul, MN; Fife, WA; Fullerton, CA; El Paso, TX; Charlotte, NC; or Lombard, IL
Travel: None
Reports To: Customs House Brokerage Manager

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare, review, and transmit accurate import entries, including CBP Forms 3461, 7501, 7512, AES filings, and supporting documentation.
  • Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other import documentation to support timely cargo clearance.
  • Apply HTS classifications, duty rates, valuation, country-of-origin rules, and applicable trade programs such as USMCA, FTAs, and ADD/CVD.
  • Coordinate with clients, carriers, terminals, warehouses, government agencies, and internal teams to resolve clearance issues and documentation discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with CBP, Census, FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, and other Partner Government Agency requirements.
  • Respond to and help support CBP Requests for Information and Notices of Action.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records in accordance with CBP recordkeeping requirements.
  • Support Foreign Trade Zone activity, including admissions, withdrawals, weekly entries, recordkeeping, and compliance processes.
  • Communicate proactively with clients regarding entry status, documentation needs, regulatory changes, and potential compliance risks.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for customs entry and trade compliance questions.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience preparing and filing U.S. Customs import entries.
  • Experience working in customs brokerage, international freight forwarding, or a related import/export environment.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTSUS classification, valuation, duty programs, tariffs, and import documentation.
  • Familiarity with Partner Government Agency requirements, including FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, and Census.
  • FTZ experience is preferred, including admissions, withdrawals, weekly entries, or compliance support; however, strong customs entry writers with an interest in growing their FTZ knowledge are encouraged to apply.
  • Customs Broker License is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of entries, competing priorities, and time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
