As Mechanical Support for EEI's Mission Critical team, you will help commission, test, and document mechanical systems in data centers and other high-reliability facilities. Working alongside experienced commissioning professionals, you will gain hands-on exposure to HVAC systems, chilled water systems, cooling infrastructure, controls integration, and field testing activities.

This role is a strong fit for a developing technical professional, recent graduate, field technician, facilities operator, building engineer, military mechanical professional, or construction-minded candidate who enjoys learning in the field and wants to build a career in mission-critical commissioning and facility performance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist with commissioning, testing, and verification of mechanical systems that support mission-critical facilities and data centers.
  • Participate in field observations, equipment startup support, and functional testing alongside experienced technical staff.
  • Gather field data, photos, notes, and system information to support documentation, issue tracking, and project closeout.
  • Support project teams with coordination, site readiness, testing preparation, and clear communication across stakeholders.
  • Build practical knowledge of HVAC, chilled water, cooling infrastructure, controls integration, and commissioning best practices.
  • Help maintain accurate project records, test forms, issue logs, and deliverables that support successful project outcomes.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical equipment, facility systems, construction activities, or technical field work, with a willingness to continue learning.
  • Ability to learn technical concepts and apply them in both office and field environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, drawings, and system information with guidance.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn commissioning documentation tools or project software.
  • Currently authorized to work in the U.S. full-time.

Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Building Systems, or a related field.
  • Exposure to HVAC systems, chilled water systems, controls, building automation systems, commissioning, data centers, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Hands-on technical experience through internships, technician roles, trade programs, military service, facility operations, maintenance, or field-based project work.
  • Interest in developing a long-term career in commissioning, building performance, data centers, or mission-critical operations.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical Travel: Up to 75%. Travel requirements vary by project and individual location.
  • Work Environment: Hybrid environment of office and field-based work for site visits. Site visits may include mission-critical facilities, data centers, active construction environments, mechanical rooms, uneven ground, varying weather conditions, and field interactions.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform site inspections, which may include walking project sites, climbing ladders, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces when needed. Reasonable accommodation may be provided.
  • Reports to: Mechanical Lead or assigned project technical lead.
