Launch your bridge engineering career while making a direct impact on infrastructure safety across the nation as a Bridge Inspector Engineer, Early Career. In this role, you'll work alongside experienced Engineers to inspect bridges, culverts, and other structures nationwide, developing technical expertise in bridge mechanics, condition assessment and load rating. You'll combine fieldwork with analytical problem-solving, traveling to diverse project sites throughout the US while building foundational skills that will define your engineering career, all within a collaborative culture committed to mentorship and professional growth. You'll document critical bridge conditions, perform structural analysis, and provide recommendations that help communities maintain safe, reliable transportation networks and assist bridge owners in making well0informed maintenance and repair decisions to extend the life of their assets.

What You'll Do:

  • As part of a team guided by experienced Professional Engineers, inspect conventional and complex bridges, culverts, and structures in Ohio and nationwide

  • Document and report bridge conditions for routine, in-depth, and NSTM inspection assignments using tablets, cameras, and industry-standard protocols
  • Develop technical skills and advance your knowledge based on the Specifications for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI)
  • Write detailed reports and perform analysis and load ratings of bridges and culverts for state DOTs, counties, and municipalities
  • Prepare drawings in MicroStation or AutoCAD to support rehabilitation recommendations and preventative maintenance strategies
  • Collaborate with public agency clients to assess and improve bridge infrastructure

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern registration or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Physical capability to climb large bridge structures and withstand high levels of exertion including walking, climbing, bending, carrying, and lifting up to 60 lbs. of equipment
  • 0 -2 years of bridge inspection engineering experience
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; AutoCAD, MicroStation, BrM, BrR, AssetWise or other bridge inspection and design/rating software experience a plus
  • NHI/FHWA Inspection and SPRAT Level 1 certifications desirable
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 40%) throughout the U.S. to support diverse bridge inspection projects
  • Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving

Travel arrangements to and from work assignments including airfare, hotel, and meals are reimbursed. All safety training, equipment, tools, and tech are provided.
