Job description

A direct hire opportunity is available for an experienced pharmacist to support operations in a growing, closed-door long-term care pharmacy located in Columbus, OH. This role focuses on managing controlled drug use within a specialized setting, providing comprehensive pharmacy services to healthcare facilities.
Location: Columbus, OH
Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM, Monday - Friday, every other weekend
Start Date: ASAP
Job Type: Direct Hire
Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage controlled substances (narcotics) with accuracy and compliance.
  • Review medication orders for appropriate drug use, dosage, interactions, and administration.
  • Advise physicians and facility staff on therapy adjustments as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed patient databases including medical history and clinical data.
  • Investigate and resolve medication-related inquiries promptly.
  • Coordinate communication with nursing staff, physicians, and healthcare teams.
  • Oversee the preparation and dispensing of medications.
  • Maintain thorough records of controlled drugs for regulatory and inventory purposes.
  • Ensure medication storage meets security standards.
  • Participate in "on-call" rotation when needed.
Qualifications:
  • Current pharmacist license for the state of Ohio (license must be in-hand at time of hire).
  • Experience working with controlled medications, particularly narcotics.
  • Strong knowledge of drug evaluation and clinical pharmacy practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and facility staff.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy systems such as Frameworks is a plus.
