What you'll do as a Facility Maintenance Specialist 1:

  • Under general direction of Administrative Officer 1 in the Facility Services, complete basic preventative maintenance, repairs & installations on electrical wiring systems, fixtures & controls, plumbing systems, HVAC& mechanical equipment & structural systems.

  • Installs & replaces lighting fixtures, bulbs, ballasts, switches, receptacles & fuses; Performs basic wiring of single & three phase motors.

  • Repairs & installs plumbing fixtures (e.g., toilets, valves, & sinks); Cuts, solders & threads pipes; Unclogs drains & toilets; Greases motors.

  • Assists higher-level workers with operation & maintenance of low-pressure boilers (e.g., clean/repair tubes, replace gaskets, remove scale/soot, & check functionality); Cleans boiler-related equipment (e.g., feed water pumps, oil pumps, motors, turbines, air compressors, water regulators, fans, & water softeners).

Successful completion of post-secondary training in facilities maintenance technology, industrial trades technology or comparable training program

AND 1 yr. exp. in construction/building maintenance that included carpentry, electrical, plumbing & HVAC. Note: if position will be assigned to operate motorized equipment of size & type regulated by Sections 4506.1, 4506.03 & 4506.12 of Ohio Revised Code, applicant must also have valid commercial driver license; if required to operate state vehicle must have valid driver license.
