Job description

Title: Lending Quality Assurance Analyst
Reports to: Director of Consumer Lending
Supervises: None
Status: Non-Exempt
Objective
The Lending Quality Assurance Analyst ensures the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of consumer lending operations. This role is responsible for auditing loan files, identifying systematic issues, and driving continuous improvement through data-driven insights and policy recommendations. The analyst plays a critical role in mitigating risk, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the credit union's commitment to exceptional member service.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts comprehensive audits of loan files to ensure compliance with credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads quality assurance reviews for real estate secured loans, including HELOCs, ensuring compliance with HMDA and all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversees end-to-end audits for loan processing and underwriting, driving improvements in accuracy, risk management, and operational efficiency.
  • Validates underwriting decisions and confirms adherence to credit policy and risk tolerance.
  • Monitors performance of automated decisioning tools and validates credit scoring models.
  • Investigates discrepancies and recurring errors to identify root causes across processes, systems, and personnel.
  • Develops and implements remediation, when necessary, in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Tracks progress resolution and measures effectiveness of implemented changes.
  • Prepares detailed written reports summarizing audit findings, trends, and risk exposure.
  • Conducts targeted reviews of third-party vendors involved in the lending process to ensure quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Presents actionable insights and recommendations to leadership on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Maintains accurate documentation of quality control activities for regulatory and internal audit purposes.
  • Recommends policy changes based on audit results, regulatory updates, and best practices.
  • Supports development of training materials to address identified gaps and reinforce quality standards.
  • Collaborates with other departments to ensure alignment, resolve system-related issues, and seamless member experiences.
  • Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective coordination and communication with staff and management:
    • Assists staff in other departments
    • Assists in training and cross-training Lending and Member Services staff
    • Completes reports and records promptly and accurately
  • Develops a working knowledge of Credit Union's systems.
  • Performs all duties in a manner that is fully compliant with applicable industry regulations as well as KEMBA policy and procedures.
  • Develops an understanding of Credit Union history, philosophy, organization, policies, and operational procedures.
  • On a self-direct basis, continues to improve individual level of competency through training and certification on established educational programs.
  • Relates to others beyond giving and receiving instructions:
    • Communicates with coworkers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes
    • Performs work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading, or speaking with others
    • Responds appropriately to feedback
  • Performs other duties as required by management.

Required Qualifications
  • College graduate or equivalent work experience with required loan training and certification
  • Minimum three to five years of experience in consumer lending, underwriting, or quality assurance
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal lending regulations
  • Strong knowledge of credit policies, procedures, industry terminology, and risk management principles
  • Proficiency in lending platforms and data analysis tools
  • Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills
  • Professional demeanor
