Job Title:MusicianDepartment:Arts and Sciences | Dance-JM

Provide musical accompaniment for contemporary, African and/or ballet classes for majors in the Dance Department. May accompany elective classes as determined by Music Supervisor or Department Chair. This is an hourly-paid position working a maximum of 10 hours per week.

Having a strong sense of rhythm is a must and one must be flexible to change music to meet the needs of the instructor. It is important to be able to respond to movement by discerning meter, as well as accent, articulation, and nuance. Arriving promptly, having instruments set up before class starts, and having a positive attitude and respect is essential.

Extensive experience as an accompanist for contemporary, African and ballet classes. Expertise with a wide range of appropriate musical literature for dance classes. Ability to provide specialized musical needs as an accompanist for targeted dance classes. Read and improvise various musical styles.

Required Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience.
