Company Description Prototype: The Experimental Museum is an ever-evolving destination for bold and curious visitors, featuring cutting-edge media, supersensory experiments, provocative themes, and original art installations. The museum is created in collaboration with Roto, a Columbus-based national leader in museum exhibitions and attractions. An interdisciplinary team of digital artists, musicians, writers, software developers, filmmakers, A/V engineers, creative technologists, and community partners continuously develops new experiences. Team members join a creative environment that values experimentation, innovation, and audience engagement. Working at Prototype offers the opportunity to contribute to immersive cultural experiences in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
Role Description The Bartender is a full-time, on-site role based in the Columbus, Ohio Metropolitan Area. This role is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests, following established recipes and museum guidelines. Day-to-day tasks include engaging visitors in a welcoming and professional manner, taking orders, making recommendations, and ensuring a high level of customer service in the bar and lounge areas. The Bartender will operate the point-of-sale system, maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, restock inventory, adhere to all safety and compliance regulations, and support museum events and programs.
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on creating positive, inclusive guest experiences.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with visitors, colleagues, and event partners.
- Proficiency in bartending, including mixing cocktails, pouring drinks responsibly, and following recipes.
- Prior experience in hospitality, entertainment, or museum settings is beneficial.
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service laws and regulations; relevant certifications are a plus.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, work evenings and weekends, and support special events as needed.
- Reliability, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset within a creative environment.
