Job description

Position: Production Supervisor
Reports to: Plant Manager
Company: Synova
Location: 525 Maxtown Rd, Westerville, OH 43082
Position Summary
Support the food grade facility by leading the plant production team ensuring environmental health and safety, and food safety guidelines are followed. This includes creating work and production schedules, customer order fulfillment, maintaining adequate packaging supplies, inventory control of finished goods and raw material, supervision of the production team employees, and meeting production goals. Reports to the Production Manager.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Meet and plan with the Production Manager to lead the production technician team
  • Executes the production schedule and reports any issues to the Production Manager
  • Work with Production Manager and Operations Manager to ensure adequate levels of finished goods and raw materials are maintained
  • Generates the cycle counts for internal inventory audits and refines data in Macola
  • Support the facility EHS program and policies by monitoring the production team
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager with equipment troubleshooting and repair
  • Develop and implement technician training and qualification program
  • Works with the Production Manager to generate annual employee reviews of the production team
  • Lead facility sanitation program to ensure site is perpetually audit ready.
  • Ensure finished product is packaged properly and leaves the site in phenomenal condition
  • Generates POP orders in Macola and ensures all data is entered of documentation
  • Is a member of the facility food safety team
  • Maintain the Synova Hold and Waste logs
  • Assist in the creation, review, train on, and enforce all production documents as needed
  • Maintain SQF compliance on cleanliness, documentation, and review, file and store as needed
  • Assists in the coordination of maintenance activities and reports mechanical issues to the Maintenance Manager
  • In case of absence, the backup is the Production Manager.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
  • 3 years’ experience in a production environment with leadership preferably in the food industry.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with other department leaders
  • Enjoys teaching others how to complete their tasks successfully
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, sort, check, count, and verify numbers
  • Good mathematical background
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal); ability to listen, excellent grammar, spelling and proof-reading skills and follow-up effectively with all staffing levels, vendors, and customers
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, and Word
  • Competent organizing and prioritizing skills to work efficiently
  • Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours, possible weekends or evenings
  • Familiar with HACCP and SQF processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively in challenging situations
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction
  • Competent forklift driving skills
