Job description

Job Description:
We're looking for a Technical Product Owner who thrives at the intersection of technology, performance, and training culture. This role is for someone who understands modern web architectures and cares deeply about building digital platforms as durable and high-performing as the equipment they support.
You'll own the technical execution of our mobile app, built with React Native, initially focusing 100% on delivering a fast, reliable, and performance-driven experience for athletes and strength enthusiasts. As the product evolves, this role will expand to support both the mobile app and our broader e-commerce ecosystem.
Working closely with engineering, QA, and business stakeholders, you'll help guide a modern platform powered by Node.js microservices and a custom Vue 3 SSR frontend, translating complex technical concepts into clear priorities. Your work will ensure our digital experiences scale, perform under peak demand, and meet the same high standards as the equipment our community relies on.
Your work will directly impact how serious strength athletes discover, configure, and purchase the gear they use every day-whether they're outfitting a garage gym or preparing for competition.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and communicate the technical product vision and roadmap, with an initial focus on the React Native mobile app and a planned expansion to the broader e-commerce ecosystem
  • Partner closely with engineering to plan and deliver features across a Node.js microservices architecture supporting mobile and web experiences
  • Define and prioritize work across the React Native mobile app, backend services, APIs, and a custom Vue 3 SSR frontend
  • Translate business goals and technical needs into well-defined user stories, technical requirements, and acceptance criteria
  • Maintain and prioritize the product backlog with a strong focus on performance, scalability, reliability, and long-term platform health
  • Act as the primary liaison between engineering, QA, UX, operations, and business stakeholders
  • Collaborate closely with QA to ensure high-quality, stable releases across mobile and distributed backend systems
  • Manage technical dependencies and coordinate work across full-time developers and consulting resources
  • Analyze product performance, system health, and customer behavior to inform decisions and trade-offs
  • Support architectural discussions by understanding and clearly communicating technical concepts and constraints (without needing to write code)
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve app performance, platform resilience, and the end-to-end customer experience
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager in a technical, platform, or mobile-focused environment
  • Hands-on experience owning or supporting mobile applications, preferably built with React Native or similar cross-platform frameworks
  • Strong understanding of modern backend architectures, including Node.js-based services, APIs, and distributed systems
  • Proven ability to discuss technical details, understand system trade-offs, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams
  • Experience translating business objectives into clear user stories, technical requirements, and acceptance criteria
  • Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments with multiple developers and dedicated QA resources
  • Strong analytical and prioritization skills in performance- and reliability-sensitive environments
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Genuine interest in fitness, strength training, or performance-driven products

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with custom frontends built using modern frameworks such as Vue.js
  • Familiarity with server-side rendering, performance optimization, and mobile/web integration challenges
  • Experience supporting high-traffic, high-demand digital products (e-commerce, media, or consumer platforms)
  • Background coordinating work across internal teams and external consulting partners
  • Exposure to platform modernization, system migrations, or evolving technical architectures
  • CSPO, PSPO, or similar Agile certification

By applying to Rogue, regardless of the platform you choose to use, you are agreeing to Rogue's preferred methods of communication (i.e. text message). Submitting an application, through whatever online forum is ultimately used, constitutes a knowing and voluntary agreement to send and receive text messages during the recruitment process.
