Job description

Loan Officer 

The Ohio Department of Development's Minority Business Development Division is looking for a Loan Officer to help expand and grow Ohio's minority business economy. 

What you'll do: 

  • Assist in administering multiple loan and incentive programs, including Minority Business Direct Loan, Collateral Enhancement, Ohio Micro Loan, Women's Business Enterprise Loan, and CDFI Loan Participation programs.
  • Review program applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with statutes, administrative rules, and program criteria.
  • Prepare detailed loan package writeups, including financial and market analysis, and present requests to the Minority Development Financing Advisory Board.
  • Prepare loan documentation for Controlling Board review and manage applicant correspondence related to awards and disbursement of funds.
  • Perform credit analysis, including reviewing financial statements, tax compliance, job creation verification, loan covenants, and payment histories.
  • Connect minority, small, and disadvantaged businesses across Ohio with relevant financial and developmental resources.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of business lending programs and commercial lending. 
  • Previous experience working in a bank, credit union, Community Development Financial Institution or other economic development business lending organization performing business credit and debit service analysis required. 
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting OR bachelor's degree in another area previous work experience in finance, accounting or commercial lending preferred. 
  • Economic development/business development experience helpful. 
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills as well as analytical and prioritization skills. 
  • Proficiency in using MS Suite.
