Job description

Franklin University is seeking a Graduate Assistant to support the Department of Computing Sciences and Mathematics. This role provides graduate students with hands-on experience in teaching, research, instructional design, and academic operations within a university recognized for its applied, student-centered online education.
Position Responsibilities
Teaching & Instructional Support
  • Assist faculty with course development, updates, and instructional materials
  • Prepare and grade assignments, quizzes, and exams
  • Support student learning and engagement

Research Support
  • Conduct literature reviews and summarize research findings
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and visualization
  • Support research dissemination, including reports and presentations

Administrative & Program Support
  • Helps maintain course and program-related content
  • Assist with outreach initiatives and student engagement activities
  • Support department projects and other academic initiatives as needed

Required Qualifications
  • Enrolled full-time in a graduate program within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Technology
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA and good academic standing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with programming (e.g., Python, Java, or similar languages)
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python, or SQL)
  • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas)
  • Interest in areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, or applied computing
  • Prior academic, research, or professional experience related to computing or teaching

Additional Information
  • Graduate assistants are expected to work up to 19 hours per week
  • Some on-campus presence at the downtown Columbus campus may be required
  • Assistantships are renewable for the duration of the academic program based on satisfactory performance

  • Letter of recommendation from a Franklin University instructor within the past two terms
