Job description

Job Description - Sets up and operates CNC Laser Cutting Machine, load material, cut, inspect & document parts, de-burr, skid or box and deliver to next operation.

Duties:

  • Set up and operation of CNC machine and basic machine parameters.
  • Use CAM nesting, ToPs and other software on machine.
  • Perform “First Piece Article” inspections and document part dimensions per engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Input time, material, quantity produced into ERP software.
  • Understanding of Company quality program.
  • Material identification to facilitate selecting and transporting from storage to machine, properly identify left over raw material for return to inventory location and proper disposal of scrap.
  • Perform and document routine maintenance on machine as directed.
  • Keep machines and work area clean, neat, and orderly.
  • Runs secondary operations on other machines when required or time allows.
  • De- tab and de-burr parts with grinders and sander.
  • Reports any discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
  • Wear safety equipment and follow all safety rules and procedures as required and directed.
  • Other duties may be required as assigned.

Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use and care for precision measuring equipment and tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and other tools and gauges.
  • Knowledge of both metric and inch measuring systems.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic math and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing ERP software, Windows software and CNC software and NC code.
  • Operate a lift truck (license).

Education/Training:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
