Job description

S-E-A is adding to our dynamic team due to growth! This opportunity will ideally be out of our corporate office in Columbus, OH but we would consider the right, local candidate for our Fort Lauderdale or Tampa office (though Florida-based construction costing experience would be a firm requirement). Only candidates with costing experience will be considered.Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:Evaluate reasonable value of various types of construction repairsPrepare detailed repair estimated based on damage assessmentEvaluate estimated value of reported repairs and construction scopesMust be familiar with multi-family and single-family residential, low-rise and high-rise, municipal, commercial, and health‑care constructionQuantify and develop construction costing estimates by reviewing drawings, specifications, repair scopes, digital models, and/or report descriptions prepared by othersPrepare alternative costs of repairs with consideration of defined means/methods for achieving scope of work Review and evaluate repair recommendations and contract requirementsWork independently and integrate evaluation with in-house investigators regarding potential apportionment of responsibility of above items.Prepare and submit written reports that document construction costs and construction means/methods utilized in recommendationsExplain to clients, in laymen's terms, your analysis and what lead to your determination.Ability to support conclusions by appropriate documentation and expert testimony in legal proceedingsDeliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groupsResponsible for retention and development of client relations Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company-paid educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies Position Requirements:Minimum of eight (8) years of construction industry cost estimate experience (Florida-based is a plus)Certified Professional Estimator preferredFluent in cost estimating platforms including Swift, Marshall, Sage/Timberline, CSI, RSMeans, and XactimateSuperior attention to detailMust possess strong writing skillsExceptional interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to accept an integrate constructive feedback into performanceRegular and predictable presence at work Physical Requirements:Ability to travel 35% of the time, inclusive of overnight stays and week-long inspectionsAbility to maneuver in and around construction, fire and accident sitesAbility to lift 50 lbs.Ability to drive to site locations in all conditionsAbility to travel by airlineAbility to effectively communicate with clients and colleaguesAbility to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work siteS-E-A places a strong value on employee health and wellness across the company.
