Job description

Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT)

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MT) at IDEXX, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. In This Role:

  • You will be using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
  • You will be performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
  • You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • You can expect to specialize in one or more of the following areas: Hematology, Chemistry, and/or Urinalysis

What You'll Need To Succeed:

  • You must have 1-2+ experience working in a clinical diagnostic laboratory setting up, running, reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers) in a high volume Clinical Diagnostic Lab
  • You have attended school, formal academia OR in-depth, equivalent work experience focusing on Clinical Pathology/Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist
  • ASCP/AMT Certification is a plus
  • Strong competency/experience in 1 or more the following Bench areas:
    • Hematology: Your skillset includes experience running samples on or operating one or more of the following analyzers: Sysmex; Di60 Cell Image Analyzer or CellaVision
    • You have an ability to complete manual differential cell counts and coagulation tests in high-volume workload
    • Chemistry: Your skillset includes the ability to utilize different centrifuge machines, Beckman Chemistry Analyzers or Immulite Analyzers
    • Urinalysis: Your skillset includes the ability to operate a CLINITEK Novus Analyzer and experience manually analyzing urine samples using a microscope
    • Clinical Analyzer Maintenance / Quality Control Experience a plus
  • You have reliable and precise data management skills to record and maintain precise records and diagnostic reports
  • You are able to conduct maintenance, basic troubleshooting and calibration on laboratory analyzers
  • You have excellent time management skills that will be beneficial in a high-volume, fast-paced laboratory environment
  • Communication skills are a must as we work collectively as a team!
  • You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility
  • Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab – standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

  • Hourly rate targeting $28.00 - 32.00 / hr+ (with flexibility based on skillset of candidate)

Schedule:

  • The hours for this position are Tuesday through Saturday, 2am - 10:30am, with an every-other Sunday rotation.
