Job description

Kennel Technician Christian K-9 Academy

Christian K-9 Academy is seeking hardworking, dependable, and passionate individuals to join our team as Kennel Technicians. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the health, safety, and wellbeing of the dogs in our care, including boarding dogs, sport dogs, protection dogs, and working police K9s.

As a Kennel Technician, you will help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment while providing daily care, exercise, and enrichment for the dogs. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position that requires strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to confidently handle high-drive dogs in a fast-paced environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesFacility Cleaning & Maintenance

  • Clean and disinfect kennels, runs, crates, and play areas daily
  • Remove and properly dispose of animal waste
  • Vacuum, mop, power wash turf and kennels, and maintain overall cleanliness of the facility
  • Keep all indoor and outdoor areas organized and sanitized
  • Ensure all cleaning and sanitation protocols are followed consistently

Dog Care & Welfare

  • Provide fresh water and monitor feeding routines
  • Conduct daily wellness checks and monitor dogs for signs of illness, injury, or stress
  • Exercise, walk, and interact with dogs throughout the day
  • Provide enrichment activities and maintain a positive environment for all dogs
  • Take dogs out for bathroom breaks and supervise playtime safely

Training Support

  • Assist trainers with daily setup and training preparation
  • Prepare dogs with proper collars, leashes, and training equipment
  • Maintain organized supplies of treats, toys, and training materials
  • Assist with handling dogs during training sessions when needed

Client Interaction

  • Greet clients professionally and create a welcoming experience
  • Answer basic questions and communicate respectfully with customers
  • Represent Christian K-9 Academy with professionalism and positivity

Qualifications

  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
  • Flexible schedule, including some weekends and holidays if needed
  • Comfortable working around large, energetic, and high-drive dogs
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in pursuing a career in dog training, animal care, or the working dog industry is preferred
  • Previous kennel or animal handling experience is a plus, but not required
