Description
The City of Marysville is seeking a dedicated Wastewater Collection Unit Operator to support the operation and maintenance of our sanitary collection system. This role ensures the efficient operation of more than 20 lift stations and our broader sewer network. The schedule is a standard shift of 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. Due to the nature of the role, you must be available for 24-hour emergency callbacks, participate in a rotating weekend "on-call" schedule, and be subject to overtime scheduling.
Job Responsibilities
System Maintenance & Repair: Diagnose problems, repair sewer lines, make sewer taps, replace old lines, and adjust or repair manholes.
Inspection & Testing: Visually inspect sewer lines, inspect new sanitary service lateral installations, and conduct televising, smoke, and dye testing.
Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely operate a variety of equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, front-end loaders, jet rodders, ditch pumps, and air hammers.
Preventive Maintenance: Keep equipment in proper operating condition by performing oil changes, lubrication, and replacing minor parts.
Right-of-Way Upkeep: Maintain sewer right-of-ways by mowing, removing brush, and clearing debris.
Customer & Community Service: Act as a positive representative for the City, answering public inquiries and keeping citizens informed about service interruptions.
Emergency Response: Respond to 24-hour call-ins for sewer line failures and assist the City with flood action and snowplowing efforts.
Job Requirements
Education: High school graduate required. Additional education or training in wastewater treatment is a plus.
Experience: Four years of experience in collection systems maintenance (or a related field) and/or comprehensive knowledge of these procedures is preferred.
Licensing:
  • Minimum Class I Collections System Certification from the Ohio EPA, or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or the ability to obtain one within 12 months of employment.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license with a good driving record.

Supplemental Information
Starting hourly rate is $27.30 per hour (position range is $27.30 - $32.68) with a robust benefits package.
