Job description

The hourly rate pay for this position at Scotts/Hawthorne will generally fall between $21.00 - 21.00 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts/Hawthorne will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

What you'll do in this role:

  • Perform a safety check of the equipment to ensure it is safe to operate.

  • Performs daily assignments as directed by team Group Leader or Supervisor

  • Actively maintain good housekeeping standards in their assigned area

  • Safely operate a forklift to transport materials.

  • Ensure stocks of needed materials are ready and available at all times.

  • Ability to learn multiple pieces of automated equipment and flexibility to move to different work stations daily.

  • Effectively communicate and relay information to peers and/or supervisors concerning the performance of the production line as it pertains to the assembly, operation and performance of the line.

  • Perform various manufacturing inspection protocols to ensure plant quality standards on granular packaging products and display units.

  • Adhere to plant safety rules and programs as it pertains to self and all other associates.

What you'll need to be successful:

  • Position entails prolonged and repetitive motion of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching overhead and arms/hands dexterity

  • Ability to drive a forklift

  • Ability to climb on and off of required equipment

  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs and meet man-lift requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Ability to read and write English and/or be able to follow instructions

  • Must pass the minimum fit for duty physical (annually)

  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime including weekends and holidays.

  • Able to work in a dusty hot/cold/humid environment,

  • Able to lift 50 pounds, and be on their feet for 8-12 hours a day.

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • A minimum of one plus years of production plant experience is preferred.

  • Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, ability to make decisions regarding equipment adjustments to meet product specifications and quality conformity.

  • Must be a team player and promote teamwork amongst production lines, departments and shifts.
