Job description

Hiring Company: Frank Brunckhorst Co., LLCOverview:The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of a highly automated distribution and material handling system. This position performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment while minimizing downtime and supporting operational excellence.
The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and customer service. This position requires the ability to work independently, respond to equipment failures, and effectively communicate with operations and fellow maintenance team members.Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated warehouse equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic PLC-related equipment failures.
  • Troubleshoot conveyors, motors, gearboxes, bearings, sensors, photo eyes, VFDs, scanners, and other automated material handling equipment.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns to restore production safely and efficiently.
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Document repairs, downtime, root cause findings, labor hours, and parts used.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce repeat equipment failures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, safety, and productivity.
  • Perform fabrication, welding, machining, and minor equipment modifications as required.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory by identifying critical replacement components and reporting inventory needs.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with 5S standards.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair progress, and shift turnover information clearly with maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Support maintenance projects, equipment installations, and facility improvements.
  • Assist with departmental reporting and other assigned maintenance functions.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Arc Flash (NFPA 70E), and machine guarding procedures.
  • Properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report unsafe conditions and participate in corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, military maintenance experience, or industrial maintenance certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment.
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Mechanical systems
    • Electrical systems
    • Hydraulics
    • Pneumatics
    • PLC fundamentals
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work at heights using ladders, lifts, or elevated platforms.
  • Ability to crawl, kneel, bend, stoop, climb, and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, dusty environments, and around moving machinery.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Work Schedule

  • Ability to work any shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins as business needs require.
  • Must be dependable and maintain acceptable attendance.
