Electrical Design/Controls Engineer – Experienced

Our staff of engineers offers a wide variety of hands-on experience to create a cost-effective and practical solution to virtually every engineering problem.
POSITION SUMMARY:

  • MJ Engineering is seeking a full-time Experienced Electrical Design/Controls Engineer to support the growth and expansion of our business. The Electrical Design/Controls Engineer will primarily be accountable for designing, programming, testing, and debugging custom designed automation equipment. This person must be a self-motivated professional who is personally aligned with the Company's values, mission and brand. This position will be supported with training, management, and coaching for the individual's overall professional success


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintenance and development of PLC Systems (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell/Studio 5000), HMI programming (FactoryTalk View) and sub systems.
  • Maintenance and development of Robot Automation Systems (primarily Fanuc 6-axis & SCARA)
  • Programming support for new automation projects and existing automated systems.
  • Development of electrical design, schematics, and drawings
  • On-site installation of automation projects
  • Support sales department with feasibility studies
  • Other duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
The successful candidate for this position will have, at minimum, the following skills, experience, and characteristics:

  • Experience in PLC & HMI Programming (Allen-Bradley preferred)
  • Experience in electrical system design for automation control systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering team members
  • Capability to critically assess own work for successes and malfunctions.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years relevant work experience is required in addition to experience with various PLC and HMI systems


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar field such as Electrical Technology, Control Systems or Computer Programming etc.) preferred. Other Engineering degrees to be considered with appropriate experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical design software
  • Experience with FANUC robot programming
  • Experience with machine vision applications such as Cognex, Keyence, and FANUC iRVision
  • Experience with machine safety principles
  • Experience with programming equipment like Servo and/or Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
  • Experience with low and medium voltage system design

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This position will have up to 5% travel outside of Ohio, with additional day trips up to 15%
