Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Columbus, Ohio

$100,000 - $150,000 annually

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Columbus, Ohio, to lead and deliver geotechnical solutions for major infrastructure projects including bridges, dams, levees, and buildings. This role combines technical leadership, project management, and mentorship, offering opportunities to work on challenging, high-profile projects across the region. You will oversee field investigations, inspections, and geotechnical reporting, and play a key role in client collaboration and business development. The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience, a Bachelorโ€™s degree in civil or geological engineering (Masterโ€™s preferred), and a Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. (Ohio PE preferred). Experience with ODOT projects or the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is highly desirable. Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support proposals and occasional marketing activities. WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead geotechnical design and analysis for bridges, buildings, dams, and levees
  • Oversee field investigations, inspections, and geotechnical reporting
  • Mentor junior engineers and review technical work
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Support proposals and occasional marketing activities
  • Ensure safety compliance and represent company values
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering (Masterโ€™s preferred)
  • Minimum 6 years of geotechnical engineering experience, with expertise in dams, levees, and/or large bridge foundations
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the U.S. (Ohio PE preferred)
  • Experience with ODOT projects and/or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers highly desired
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship skills
  • Available for occasional short-term travel
