Position Overview
The Department of Molecular Genetics in the College of Arts and Sciences at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Investigators addressing fundamentally important biological questions in any area of eukaryotic Developmental Biology, Cell Biology, or Genomics are encouraged to apply. Applicants with interest and expertise in imaging, quantitative biology, computational biology, multi-omics analyses or systems biology will be especially competitive.
Performance Objectives
Successful candidates will be expected to maintain an externally funded, nationally recognized active research program in their area of expertise and to support our commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of a diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required: Candidates are required to have a doctoral degree (PhD or MD) and at least two years of post-doctoral or equivalent experience. Exceptions to the required post-doctoral experience will be made for candidates holding graduate-to-faculty transition awards.
Desired: Candidates should have a strong record of demonstrated research productivity. Applicants should have the ability to develop a rigorous research program and be committed to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

A complete application consists of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a statement that briefly summarizes past research accomplishments and emphasizes future research plans and a teaching philosophy/statement. The Department of Molecular Genetics includes over thirty faculty investigating diverse biological questions spanning molecules to systems. Research efforts are supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure in the Department and across campus in specialized core facilities, which enable cutting-edge research. Molecular Genetics faculty collaborate within the Department as well as with faculty from other departments and colleges, such as the department of Chemistry and biochemistry and the college of medicine, and are active members of campus-wide focal groups, including the Center for RNA Biology and the NCI-designated James Comprehensive Cancer Center. The university is also home to the Arabidopsis Biological Resource Center, a central seed and plasmid repository that preserves, amplifies, and distributes these stocks to the worldwide research and education community.
