Seeking experienced Lead Shop Mechanic to manage the shop, maintain and repair commercial landscape equipment and fleet vehicles, supervise shop staff, and coordinate parts/inventory and preventative maintenance programs. The ideal candidate combines hands-on mechanical skills with strong organization, safety focus, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and safety inspections; develop and track PM schedules for fleet and equipment.
  • Lead, train, and schedule shop technicians; assign repair work and oversee quality of workmanship.
  • Maintain parts inventory, order replacement parts, manage vendor relationships, and control shop costs.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records, service logs, and parts/inventory records in company systems.
  • Ensure shop and vehicles meet OSHA and company safety standards; enforce PPE and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate with operations managers and crews to prioritize repairs and minimize downtime; assist with roadside repairs as needed.
  • Perform basic welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications when required.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, fuel-injection, and ignition systems; use diagnostic tools and meters.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years commercial/industrial/mechanical experience; landscape equipment and small-engine experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven supervisory or lead experience in a shop environment.
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Skilled with hand and power tools; welding and fabrication experience preferred.
  • Comfortable ordering parts, managing inventory, and tracking repair costs.
  • Good recordkeeping and basic computer skills (work order systems, spreadsheets).
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL and clean driving record preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work on ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Certifications (ASE, small engine, hydraulic) a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

What We Offer:
  • Competitive pay with performance/skill-based increases.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid time off and holiday pay.
  • Tools, shop equipment, PPE, and training provided.
  • Supportive team environment.
