Job Title: Concrete Finisher Job Category: Mid-Level Company: Knox Concrete Construction Position Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Pay: $23 - $32 per hour, based on experienceJob OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Concrete Finisher to join our team. This role is responsible for placing, finishing, protecting, and repairing concrete on a variety of job sites.This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday, with overtime opportunities and occasional weekend work. Start times may vary, including early mornings (as early as 6:00 AM).Employees are eligible for benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401K) after completing a 90-day probationary period.Key ResponsibilitiesPlace, level, and finish concrete to specified grade and depthOperate screeds, trowels, floats, and other finishing tools (hand and power)Cut joints and grooves to control crackingMonitor weather conditions and adjust finishing techniques accordinglySignal and direct concrete truck placement and pouringSmooth, level, and finish surfaces; remove defects and patch as neededSet, align, and remove concrete formsPerform repairs on existing concrete surfacesApply curing, sealing, and waterproofing compoundsInstall anchor bolts, embeds, and other fixtures in fresh concreteUse vibrators to eliminate air pockets and ensure proper consolidationMaintain clean and safe job sites, including proper disposal of materialsCommunicate effectively with Foreman regarding materials, issues, and safety concernsTrain and assist laborers in finishing techniques and best practicesQualificationsMinimum 5 years of construction experience, including 2+ years as a Concrete FinisherStrong knowledge of finishing techniques (trowel, float, broom, edging, jointing, etc.)Ability to read grades, measurements, and job specificationsAbility to obtain OSHA 10 certification and First Aid certificationStrong math, problem-solving, and critical thinking skillsExperience selecting, operating, and maintaining tools and equipmentEffective communication skills and ability to lead by exampleValid US Drivers LicensePhysical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, including heat over 100°FAbility to stand, bend, stoop, and twist throughout the workdayAbility to lift and carry up to 100 lbsStrong physical stamina, coordination, and manual dexterityAbility to safely operate and control tools and machinery with precisionWhat We're Looking ForDependability: Reliable attendance is critical to project successAttention to Detail: Ability to produce high-quality finished work with minimal supervisionTeamwork: Works well with crew members and maintains a positive attitudeLeadership: Willingness to train and guide less experienced team membersProblem Solving: Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions on the job siteWork Ethic: Takes pride in craftsmanship and getting the job done right
