Job description

The Ohio Channel Intern

Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based media organization and home to Ohio’s largest NPR, PBS, and classical radio stations, seeks two interns for the Fall 2026 semester to join The Ohio Channel team in Columbus, OH. The Ohio Channel/Ohio Government Telecommunications is a service of Ohio Public Broadcasting Stations, combining Statehouse and Supreme Court coverage with locally produced PBS programming.

Our Internship Program is designed to maximize the internship experience through hands-on work, delivery of products, and relationship-building with our staff. We eagerly welcome individuals with diverse lived experiences and perspectives to enrich our work and bring fresh ideas into our organization.

Reporting to the Supervising Producer - Production, the Interns will support the technical and operational broadcasts of The Ohio Channel and gain experience with video production, live and recorded coverage, and digital archiving of legislative and public meetings. At the conclusion of the internship, the Interns will be familiar with broadcast production and equipment as well as an understanding of public-service media.

Qualified candidates must be college or vocational school students who desire to learn new skills, give everything their best shot, and enjoy working as a team to create content they can be proud to share. Students with majors or programs of study related to Media Production are preferred, but not required. Familiarity in capturing, editing, and posting multimedia content is also preferred, but not required. The team works with Adobe Creative Suite, but if you have experience with other similar software (i.e., Avid Media Composer, Final Cut Pro), please include it in your letter of interest or resume.

The Interns will be paid $14.00 per hour for 10 hours per week during the fall semester. There is an opportunity for additional semesters based on performance. Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are required.

Ideastream Public Media is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to their race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, or disability.
