The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform has thousands of students looking for online ACT Reading tutors nationally. As a tutor on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you'll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students' scores and test readiness. Guides students through comparative passages, implicit versus explicit information, and eliminating answer choices. Emphasizes efficient reading without over-analyzing and matching answers to textual evidence under strict time constraints.
  • Test Strategy & Adaptive Instruction: Familiar with ACT Reading time challenges, common struggles with fiction versus science passages, and inference questions. Adapts instruction using timed passage practice, question type drills, and pacing strategies (roughly 9 minutes per passage). Requires minimum ACT Reading score of 31 and techniques for significant speed and accuracy improvements.
  • Effective Teaching Methods: Ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles and student needs.
