• Demonstrated ability to interview business users, gather requirements, and translate workflows from legacy systems with minimal documentation.
• Strong analytical skills for reverse-engineering COBOL program logic and summarizing system functionality.
• Proficiency creating clear process documentation, functional specs, and workflow diagrams using Visio, SharePoint, or other appropriate programs.
• Solid understanding of SQL for data validation, analysis, and confirming system behavior.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, business-friendly manner to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience revising and maintaining detailed project plans in MS Project for multi-phase technology modernization initiatives.
• Proven ability to run status meetings, track deliverables, identify blockers, and escalate issues appropriately.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills for coordinating between developers, management, and business departments.
• Ability to produce executive-level summaries for senior leadership and detailed project status reports for IT managers.
• Skilled in managing competing priorities and adapting plans as new requirements and risks emerge.
Day-to-Day responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Conduct interviews with departments to document how they use current AS/400 COBOL applications.
• Analyze legacy COBOL code to extract functionality and prepare summaries for business validation and sign-off.
• Create clear, detailed functional requirements and documentation packages for developers building new Java-based screens.
• Maintain organized repositories of process documents, requirements, and reference materials in SharePoint.
• Collaborate with developers to clarify requirements and ensure new functionality matches business needs.
• Revise where needed existing project plans, adding newly discovered tasks, dependencies, and updated timelines.
• Attend or facilitate meetings with developers to gather progress updates and identify risks or blockers.
• Track and report project statuses to maintain a realistic and transparent delivery roadmap.
• Prepare concise executive summaries for the CIO and detailed weekly status updates for IT management.
• Work with IT management to coordinate project activities across teams, ensuring alignment between requirements, development, and testing.
