Job description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Structured Cable Installations: Execute tasks including pathway identification, preparation, cable rough-in, termination, labeling, certification testing, and documentation for Cat6 and fiber optics.
  • Site Surveys and Quotes: Conduct comprehensive site surveys and provide accurate quotes for additional cabling opportunities.
  • IT Break/Fix Support: Deliver IT break/fix support to clients and handle various related tasks as required.
  • Component Installation: Install components such as fire-rated wall/floor penetrations, firestop, floor racks, wall cabinets, J-hooks, cable trays, raceways, access points, IP cameras, and paging speakers.
  • Technical Documentation: Read and interpret floor plans, drawings, and equipment specifications.
  • Customer Support and Training: Support clients' needs, provide on-the-job training for new employees, perform quality checks, and conduct job site visits.
  • Project Closeout Documentation: Manage the job/project closeout documentation process and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Field Service Operations: Support Excel's field services operations, provide weekly updates on projects, and forecast upcoming work.
  • Equipment Management: Maintain inventory documentation, organize equipment and tools in the storage facility.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the Help Desk Manager for work assignments and provide ETA for arrival and departure.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve problems, interfacing with multiple departments as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist in training other employees and enhance customer relationships in the field.
Position Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of cabling experience.
  • Professional Image: Present a professional image at all work sites.
  • Background Check: Ability to pass a background investigation and a drug screening.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer Service: Exemplary customer service skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of structured cabling systems, including Cat6 and fiber optic cable installation, termination, and testing.
  • Team Focus: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Certifications: BICSI certification strongly preferred; RCDD certification is a plus.
  • Documentation: Understand and adhere to the documentation closeout process, submitting all documents on time.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel across the State of Ohio; must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive long distances daily in company-provided vehicles.
