About the Role
We are hiring Datacenter Field Operations Technicians to support a global hyperscaler at a major US data-center campus in New Albany, Ohio. This is a hands-on troubleshooting and break-fix role — diagnosing and repairing physical-layer network issues, executing preventive and corrective maintenance, and partnering closely with provisioning crews to keep AI-infrastructure builds and operations on track. You''''''''ll join a 24×7 on-site team working alongside engineering, facility, and supply-chain partners.

Shift & Work Model

  • On-site only (Eastern Time); remote not available
  • 24×7 coverage across three 8-hour shifts: Day (07:00–15:00 ET), Swing (15:00–23:00 ET), Graveyard (23:00–07:00 ET)
  • 5 days on / 2 days off, 40 hrs/week
  • Shift differentials apply for Swing and Graveyard
  • Rotating on-call for emergency response

Required Technical Skills

  • Expert-level structured cabling (copper & fiber: Cat6A, OM4, OS2, MPO/MTP)
  • Fiber optics: splicing, termination, OTDR testing, connector inspection/cleaning
  • Rack & stack: installation, cable management, labeling standards
  • Hardware handling: switch/router install, line card insertion, optics (ESD compliant)
  • Testing tools: OTDR, optical power meter, VFL, loopback adapters, cable certifiers
  • Layer 1 physical troubleshooting (light levels, fiber breaks, bad connectors)
  • Ticketing/workflow management systems
  • Liquid cooling systems (AALC) familiarity preferred

Experience

  • 2–5 years in data center cabling, network hardware installation, or telecom
  • Hands-on fiber optic installation/testing in enterprise or hyperscale environments
  • Large-scale rack deployment experience (50+ racks)
  • Data center environment familiarity (hot/cold aisle, raised floor, cable tray)
  • AALC liquid-cooled rack experience preferred
  • Barcode scanning / asset management workflow experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • BICSI certification (Installer/Technician) or equivalent
  • OSHA 10/30 certification
  • Hyperscale, multi-tenant, or campus-scale data center background
  • DCIM/ticketing tool familiarity
  • Telecom carrier ops or large enterprise network repair background

Physical Requirements

  • Lift 50+ lbs repeatedly
  • Work at height (lifts, ladders) and in confined/hot spaces with PPE
  • Work in 75–85°F data halls
  • Stand/walk 10–12 hour shifts
  • Fine motor skills for connector/optics handling
  • Wear required PPE for extended periods

Core Responsibilities

  • Rack turn-up/turn-down: receiving, unpacking, rack/stack, cabling, energization, decommissioning
  • FE/BE cabling to fabric and spine/aggregation switches; goalpost cable routing
  • Circuit QA/QC: loopback testing, OTDR/power meter/VFL fiber testing, PON validation, cable cleaning
  • Break/fix: diagnose and repair copper/fiber circuits, replace hardware (switches, linecards, optics) per MOP, hot-swaps per SLA (P0–P7)
  • Preventive maintenance (ISPM), fiber cleaning campaigns, power QA support
  • Safety compliance: EHS standards, LOTO procedures, PPE, ESD compliance, personnel lift safety
  • Cross-functional coordination with Provisioning, Facility Ops, PMs, and supply chain
