Job Title:Postdoc ScholarDepartment:Veterinary Medicine | Veterinary Biosciences

A laboratoryoffering state-of-the-art equipment and core facilitieswithinthe College of Veterinary MedicineatInfectious DiseasesInstitute,the Ohio State University,is seeking ahighly motivatedpost-doctoralresearcherto work onan NIH-fundedproject. This post-doctoralresearcherwill investigatethe pathogenic mechanisms ofa group ofvector-borneobligatoryintracellular bacteria thatcauseemerging zoonoses.Thecandidateswillutilizein vitroandin vivoexperimental models(e.g. ticks and mice)to studynovelType IV secretion effectorsandotherbacterial factors in human and tickcells, andwill betasked to identify and characterizefunctions ofbacterial proteins and cognitive host cell molecules and signaling pathways.

In addition, the researcher willcollect, analyzeand interpret research data; assists in the preparation of research papers for publication and presentation at national and international conferences;perform critical analysis of literature relevant to researchprojects; coordinates laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchersandgraduate students;orperformadditional duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

Required Education:

PhD in cell biology,molecular biology, microbiology,immunology, orrelateddiscipline.

Required Experiences:

A strong publication record, problem solving ability,and organizational skills. Advancedmolecular, cellular, andmicrobiologicalresearch techniques andvarious sterileprocedures, includingWestern blot, RT-qPCR,ELISA,molecular cloning and protein purificationforstudyingprotein-protein interactions,cell culture,and use of advanced microscopy and morphometric techniques.

Experience of working with obligatory intracellular bacteriaisdesirable. Laboratorymice experiences,includingtissue and blood samplecollection,will be preferred.
