At PRIME AE, that’s not a slogan, it’s how we work.

Every bridge, building, campus, park, and roadway we design exists to improve how people live, move, learn, and connect. Through architecture, engineering, planning, and consulting, we partner with clients to create thoughtful, practical solutions that leave communities stronger than we found them.

If you want your work to matter, and to be surrounded by smart, collaborative people who care about doing things the right way, you’ll feel at home here.

Who We Are:

PRIME AE Group, Inc. is a nationally ranked, full-service architecture and engineering firm with 24 offices across 10 states and a team of 500+ professionals. For nearly two decades, we’ve partnered with public and private sector clients across transportation, education, healthcare, municipal, federal, commercial, and recreational markets.

We’re growing, strategically and intentionally. That means expanding our capabilities, investing in our people, and building teams that are positioned for long-term success.

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a self-driven Senior Roadway Engineer | Project Manager to join our Ohio Transportation team in Columbus or Akron.

This is a leadership role within our Transportation Division, responsible for managing roadway and highway design projects across Ohio while strengthening PRIME AE’s presence with ODOT, cities, and county agencies. You will lead project delivery, support pursuit efforts, mentor engineering staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to public-sector clients.

If you are motivated by meaningful infrastructure work, technical excellence, and the opportunity to shape Ohio’s transportation network, this role offers both impact and growth.

What You’ll Do:

You will oversee the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and highway projects, including urban and rural highways, interchanges, intersections, ADA improvements, and corridor enhancements. You will manage project performance from proposal through final design and construction support, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective solutions. You will also collaborate with PRIME AE’s Transportation teams across multiple states to support integrated, multidisciplinary project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Serve as Project Manager for ODOT, municipal, and county roadway projects.
  • Develop scopes of work, fee proposals, schedules, and staffing plans.

  • Provide quality control and oversight of plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E).
  • Guide roadway modeling efforts using Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, or related software.
  • Support interchange design, geometric layout, MOT, transportation planning, and ADA compliance efforts.

Client & Team Development

  • Support pursuit efforts and assist in winning ODOT, city, and county transportation projects.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through consistent communication and professional representation.
  • Mentor and develop junior and entry-level engineers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants to ensure successful delivery.
  • Prepare technical reports and contribute to proposal development.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) required.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in highway design and project management.
  • Experience delivering preliminary and final design for ODOT projects preferred.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer, and roadway modeling tools.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office; experience with MS Project is a plus.
  • Strong familiarity with AASHTO policies and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to manage challenging projects and multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Why PRIME AE:
