BWC's core hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, however, daily start/end times may vary based on operational need across BWC departments. Most positions perform work on-site at one of BWC's seven offices across the state. BWC offers flex-time work schedules that allow an employee to start the day as early as 7:00am or as late as 8:30am. Flex-time schedules are based on operational need and require supervisor approval.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Software Development & Modification
• Develop and modify software programs and correspondence templates using Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), .NET (C#/VB), Java, SQL, and related tools.
• Read, write, extract, and generate reports from complex data files.
2. Testing & Quality Assurance
• Create and execute unit and system test cases; prepare test data and verify results.
• Debug and revise programs to resolve defects and ensure desired functionality.
3. Analysis & Design Support
• Assist in gathering business requirements, defining problems, and developing technical solutions.
• Support test planning, defect tracking, user acceptance testing, and deployment activities.
4. Documentation & Standards
• Create and update technical documentation, including use cases, code comments, and training materials.
• Assist in documenting development lifecycle activities following BWC standards.
5. Technical Communication & Collaboration
• Participate in discussions to exchange technical information with developers, infrastructure teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide written and verbal summaries to support development tasks and project communication.
6. Production Support & Continuous Learning
• Assist with post-production support, troubleshooting application issues, and implementing enhancements.
• Maintain knowledge of current technologies through training and self-directed learning.

Qualifications
To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate:
Required Experience and/or Education:
36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 18 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 12 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, performing testing and debugging and assisting with analysis and design including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above. Knowledge of: computer and electronics, oral and written communication tools and techniques, customer support and personal service, state and Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) policy, procedures and applicable laws*, vision, mission and goals of BWC*,software development principles & methods for design, development, testing & implementation of new or modified software, commonly used query language, mathematic principles relative to assigned area in IT, IT principles, methods & practices in assigned specialty area, standard software validation tools, software distribution tools & mechanisms, relational database concepts, technical writing & documentation practices, .Net Framework (C# & VB.net); JAVA, Microsoft SQL Server; XML; SQL query tool, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) correspondence template design/development, Relational Database technologies, Team Foundation Server (TFS)
Skill for: reading comprehension, speaking, service orientation, troubleshooting, critical thinking, and complex problem solving.
Ability to: stay abreast of current technologies in area of IT assigned, deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context, and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
