Job description

Position Summary

The Logistics Dispatcher plays a critical role in the daily operations of Hurts Trucking & Demolition, LLC. This position coordinates daily


trucking operations, dispatches company-owned trucks and lease haulers, manages customer orders, communicates with drivers and customers,and assists with driver timekeeping, payroll, invoicing, and job documentation.


The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who understands the dump truck business, follows up consistently, and is familiar with local and Central Ohio quarry, aggregate, asphalt, and dump locations.


The successful candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and able

to manage multiple jobs and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Experience with Dump Truck Dispatcher software or similar

dump truck dispatch software is a plus.


Key Responsibilities - Dispatch & Operations

• Receive, enter, confirm, and process customer trucking orders accurately.

• Schedule and dispatch company-owned trucks and lease haulers based on customer needs, truck availability, job location, material, and truck

requirements.

• Coordinate daily trucking activities to maximize truck utilization and minimize downtime.

• Monitor active jobs, loads, truck availability, and driver assignments throughout the day.

• Proactively address breakdowns, delays, driver call-offs, schedule changes, and other operational issues.

• Provide drivers and haulers with accurate start times, jobsite locations, quarry or dump locations, material requirements, and customer

instructions.

• Maintain accurate dispatch records, work orders, tickets, routes, and driver assignments.

• Follow up on outstanding issues and commitments until they are resolved.


Customer Service & Communication

• Serve as a primary point of contact for customers, drivers, lease haulers, and field personnel.

• Communicate clearly, professionally, and promptly by phone, email, and text.

• Confirm customer orders, truck quantities, start times, job locations, rates, and special requirements.

• Keep customers informed regarding truck availability, delays, schedule changes, and job progress.

• Respond promptly to customer questions and concerns and follow through until issues are resolved.

• Prepare hauling quotes within established company guidelines and build strong customer relationships through dependable service and

consistent follow-up.


Dump Truck & Local Industry Knowledge

• Understand dump truck operations, including hourly and load/tonnage-based hauling.

• Understand basic construction, aggregate, dirt, asphalt, demolition, and material-hauling operations.

• Be familiar with Central Ohio roadways, construction areas, quarries, aggregate suppliers, asphalt plants, dump sites, and material locations.

• Understand routing, cycle times, truck utilization, travel distance, and selecting the appropriate truck for the job.


Timekeeping, Payroll & Invoicing Support

• Review and verify daily driver time entries against dispatch records, job assignments, tickets, and supporting documentation.

• Investigate and resolve timekeeping discrepancies and assist with payroll preparation by ensuring driver hours and documentation are

accurate and submitted on time.

• Review completed jobs and assist with customer invoicing by verifying tickets, quantities, truck types, hours, rates, job numbers, purchase

orders, and supporting documentation.

• Identify and resolve missing or inaccurate information before payroll or invoicing and maintain organized records.


Customer Follow-Up & Business Support

• Follow up with existing customers regarding current and upcoming trucking needs.

• Make outbound calls to prospective customers and lease haulers when needed.

• Maintain notes regarding customer conversations, quotes, opportunities, and required follow-up.

• Identify potential trucking opportunities and communicate them to management.


Qualifications

• Previous experience in dump truck dispatching, trucking, construction, aggregate hauling, logistics, or

transportation coordination is preferred.

• Knowledge of the dump truck business and local quarry/aggregate locations is strongly preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong telephone skills.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and consistent follow-through.

• Ability to manage multiple trucks, jobs, customers, and changing priorities simultaneously.

• Ability to assist with driver timekeeping, payroll preparation, ticket verification, and customer invoicing.

• Computer proficiency, including email, spreadsheets, scheduling, invoicing, and dispatch systems.

• Experience with Dump Truck Dispatcher software or similar trucking dispatch software is a plus.

• Dependable, punctual, accountable, and able to solve problems professionally under pressure.
