Job description

Step into a day leading mission-critical cabling work

Imagine starting your shift with a walkthrough of the white space, confirming cleanliness standards and safety protocols, then opening the day’s blueprint set and redlines. You brief a crew of 6–10 technicians, clarify milestones, assign tasks, and set expectations for quality and pace. By mid-morning, you’re supervising the installation and decommissioning of copper and fiber runs, validating labeling conventions, and checking that every pull follows best practices. After lunch, you splice fiber, verify terminations, and patch network equipment. You track progress against SLAs, remove roadblocks with stakeholders, and prep for a quality status walk with QA/QC. Before close, you review timesheets, capture lessons learned, and prepare a concise progress update for project stakeholders.

What you’ll own
  • Install and decommission network and structured cabling inside data center environments.
  • Champion sustainable, repeatable processes—continuously improve methods, tools, and documentation.
  • Provide structured, routine progress feedback to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Uphold craftsmanship standards, precise labeling, and data hall cleanliness.
  • Adhere to all safety, production, and quality codes and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate across teams to clear obstacles and keep work on schedule.
  • Interpret blueprints, floor plans, and building documentation; produce accurate redlines.
  • Apply a broad understanding of data center infrastructure technologies during execution and handover.
What makes you effective
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with data center network and structured cabling installations (or similar environments).
  • Proficient in fusion splicing; skilled at pulling and dressing all types of low-voltage cable.
  • Leadership capacity to run a crew of 6–10 technicians and accept responsibility for team outcomes.
  • Customer-facing confidence: perform job walks, align on requirements, and communicate status clearly.
  • Fluency with telecom hand tools and a strong safety mindset.
  • Ability to read floor plans and wiring diagrams; familiarity with wiring schemes and validation/testing.
  • Field terminations and labeling expertise across copper and fiber.
  • Organized paperwork habits; capable of running midsize to large projects and service assignments.
  • Layout of MDF/IDF spaces; dressing cable; performing a full range of terminations; basic understanding of fiber equipment.
  • Testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber; proficiency with analog, DSL, and extending T1 lines.
  • Network patching and structured handover to operations.
  • Accurate timesheet tracking for your crew.
  • Copper/fiber term, test, splice, and troubleshoot from end to end.
  • Clear communication with Foremen, Leads, and Techs; active tracking of metrics and SLAs.
  • Coordination with QA/QC for quality status walks; knowledge of project closeout requirements.
  • Continuous improvement through lessons learned; ability to identify each technician’s strengths and gaps.
You’re likely skilled in
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Low-voltage cabling installation
  • Copper splicing
  • Fiber splicing
  • Data center environments
  • Leadership and cabling craftsmanship
