Chief Production Officer (CPO)


Position Overview

The Chief Production Officer (CPO) plays a critical role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the company’s standards of quality, while strengthening the operational systems needed to support continued growth. This executive role will oversee the execution of the company’s development pipeline while ensuring alignment with the organization’s long-term strategic goals.


The CPO will serve as a member of the Executive Team, working closely with ownership and senior leadership to guide company strategy, operational performance, and future growth initiatives.


This role oversees three direct reports including the Director of Construction, Director of Land Development, and Director of Purchasing, along with approximately 12 indirect reports across the production division.


The position reports directly to the Managing Partners.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the company’s construction strategy to support long-term development growth.
    • Partner with ownership and executive leadership on development pacing, project planning, and operational priorities.
    • Align construction, purchasing, and land development activities with the company’s broader development pipeline and strategic objectives.
    • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, scalability, and overall production performance.

Production & Construction Oversight

  • Provide executive leadership for construction operations, purchasing, and land development.
    • Oversee the full project lifecycle from preconstruction planning through project completion.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards.
    • Establish systems, processes, and best practices that support consistent and efficient project delivery.

Organizational Leadership

  • Lead and mentor senior leaders across construction, land development, and purchasing.
    • Build a strong, accountable production organization aligned with company objectives.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Create and manage production budgets and forecasts across the project portfolio.
    • Monitor project performance and identify opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiency.
    • Provide regular reporting and insights to executive leadership and the owners.

Executive Collaboration

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Team, contributing to company-wide strategic planning.
    • Collaborate with development, finance, and asset management teams to ensure alignment between company goals and production execution.
    • Maintain strong relationships with contractors, consultants, and key industry partners.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in construction, development, or related fields.
    • Experience managing complex construction projects and multi-project development pipelines.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead construction organizations and senior leadership teams.
    • Strong financial management and operational leadership skills.
    • Strategic mindset with the ability to operate effectively at both the executive and operational levels.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
