Job description

Overview

Serves as Project Construction Field Superintendent to effectively coordinate construction activities. Maintains direct daily contact with contractor representatives, foreman, and hospital staff affected by construction.

Essential Functions
  • Assist Construction Manager in developing and implementing construction procedures, construction documents, standards, etc.
  • Collaborate to create job schedules and ensure ongoing compliance during construction phase of projects.
  • Review manpower requirements and productivity relative to meeting current job progress schedules, follow-up for timely delivery of materials to meet established schedules.
  • Produce daily logs of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies related to or impacted by construction activities.
  • Coordinate project work with hospital operations to effectively maintain job progress, negotiate impact of construction, and promote safety in occupied areas.
  • Perform jobsite inspections to assure code compliance and quality control using project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes.
  • Create lists to correct deficient work.
  • Research and coordinate hospital MEP system outages and tie-ins.
  • Assist with coordination of utility outages or shutdowns to ensure no disruptions to critical care functions.
  • Manage and ensure successful sign off on City or State inspections for all phases of construction.
Education Requirement

Associate's Degree in related construction field, or equivalent work experience, required.

Experience

Eight years of building construction experience, or equivalent education, required.

  • Leadership skills and an ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction schedules.
  • Working knowledge of contract documents, drawings and specifications, change procedures, construction and engineering principles.
