Purpose of Work Bexley teens in grades 9-12, apply today to join the Young Adult Recreation Committee and help shape teen programming in our community.

Thanks to the Bexley Community Foundation, the Bexley Recreation and Parks Department is excited to present an opportunity for teens to get involved with community programs. The Young Adult Recreation Committee (YARC) is a leadership and service opportunity for high school students living in Bexley who want to help shape recreation programs, events, and activities for teens in our community. YARC members work directly with Bexley Recreation and Parks staff to provide input on current programs, identify areas where teen recreation opportunities can be improved, and help develop new ideas that better serve local youth.

Committee members will gain hands-on leadership experience while making a meaningful impact on the future of recreation in Bexley. Application Requirements Interested students must submit: A resume A cover letter One letter of reference from a teacher, coach, employer, or community leader Application Timeline Applications Close: August 31st Interviews: September 1st - September 8th Member Selection: September 9th First Meeting: September 23 (subject to change, time to be determined) Responsibilities As a YARC member, you will: Attend four quarterly committee meetings throughout the school year Share feedback and perspectives on teen recreation programs and events Help identify gaps and opportunities in current offerings Contribute ideas for new programs, activities, and community events Assist with the planning, promotion, and implementation of recreation initiatives Complete approximately 20 volunteer service hours throughout the year for Bexley Recreation and Parks Support community events, teen programs, outreach efforts, and special projects Qualifications Applicants must: Be a current high school student in grades 9-12 Be a resident of Bexley Demonstrate an interest in leadership, community involvement, recreation, or youth programming Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Be willing to collaborate with peers and Parks & Recreation staff Bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a desire to make a positive impact Time Commitment One-year term aligned with the academic calendar (opportunity to serve multiple years) Four quarterly committee meetings Approximately 20 volunteer hours annually Additional event support opportunities as available The City of Bexley is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
