Staff Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Psychiatry Float Pool

Department: Harding | 4NP Adult Inpatient Psychiatry

Scope of Position: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center's mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient's involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.

Position Summary: The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2- year College Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is preferred.
  • Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
  • 2 years of experience in behavioral or acute care setting is preferred.

On-going: Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.

Additional Information: Harding Hospital at the OSU Wexner Medical Center offers adult and geriatric in-patient program with 84 beds and provides emergency stabilization, diagnosis and the initial stages of treatment for those requiring inpatient care. Patient-centered, trauma-informed care is supported by an interdisciplinary team with a strong focus on staff and patient safety, clinical excellence, and professional growth.

Harding Float Pool staff supports 84 inpatient beds across 4 psychiatric units with varying adult populations with diagnoses ranging from schizoaffective/ schizophrenia to mood disorders to anxiety.
